Med overskriften "This band will change your life," innledet hypehundene i NME 2004. Hvis du ikke visste det fra før av, var det Franz Ferdinand de snakket. De fortsatte å beskrive det skotske bandet som "Bursting with creativity – a mind twistingly brilliant band," og neimen om ikke opphausinga deres har noe for seg. Dette debutalbumet er nemlig en perle, en sjelden sterk indierock-plate som strutter av energi, selvtillit og en voldsom meloditeft. Musikalsk plasserer de seg i en tradisjon skapt av Television, Joy Division og Gang Of Four, så det er kanskje ikke så rart at de sammenliknes med The Strokes. Merk The Guardians ord: "…the only British band capable of pulling off the same trick as the Strokes in taking edgy, sexy, kinetic pop music into the mainstream."
