Som kjent, tapte dessverre At the Gates-frontmann Tomas "Tompa" Lindberg kampen mot kreften 16. september 2025, kun 52 år gammel. Da Lindberg ble diagnostisert i desember 2023 var bandet godt i gang med å jobbe fram et nytt album. For å være sikker på å komme i mål, spilte Lindberg inn all vokal dagen før han skulle legges på operasjonsbordet – før resten av albumet ble innspilt. Albumet, The Ghost of a Future Dead, har nå vært ferdigstilt en liten stund, og er klart for utgivelse 24. april. Tilbake i besetningen er Anders Björler, som sammen med bror Jonas Björler har skrevet musikken til det nye albumet. Tekstene er forfattet av Lindberg.
The eighth studio album by melodic death metal masters and pioneers of the 'Gothenburg sound', At the Gates, The Ghost of a Future Dead, contains twelve tracks and lasts forty-two minutes.
It was recorded and mixed by Jens Bogren at Fascination Street Studios (Kreator, Amon Amarth, Opeth, etc.). The album artwork is by Robert Samsonowitz. This is a posthumous release by At the Gates frontman Tomas Lindberg, who tragically passed away in 2025.

It perfectly captures the essence of At The Gates, blending raw energy, strong melody and beautiful lyrics by Tomas.
